Jordan S. Josephson, MD, FACS Director of the New York Nasal and Sinus Center

Selected as one of New York Magazine's New York's Best Doctors, 2004, Dr. Jordan S. Josephson is an internationally renowned nasal and endoscopic sinus surgeon who specializes in functional nasal (septal deviation and turbinate surgery) and endoscopic sinus surgery and cosmetic nasal surgery revision (nasal surgery after trauma to the nose or failed previous surgeries). As a result of the fact that sinus and nasal problems can lead to hoarseness and snoring, Dr. Josephson treats a significant amount of patients for voice problems and snoring or apnea. Dr. Josephson also treats patients with Botox who complain about wrinkles. Dr. Josephson is board certified in his specialty and is in private practice in Manhattan .

In September, 2004, Dr. Josephson was given the Honors Award by the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the largest professional organization of his specialty in the world. Dr. Josephson 's philosophy is to offer the highest quality of medical care to his patients through the latest in state of the art technology. In June 2004, the New York Magazine listed doctor Josephson and featured him as the top doctor/innovator in medicine for the treatment of sinus disease and asthma in the entire metropolitan area. Beyond the traditional clinical treatment of his patients, Dr. Josephson actively participates in the latest research and uses this knowledge as a medical educator, lecturing internationally. Dr. Josephson has taught hundreds of physicians the technique of functional endoscopic sinus surgery and nasal surgery. His articles, book chapters and books on the subject have been published in many languages.

Dr. Josephson regularly appears in the national media. He was an invited spokesman for the Lifetime Medical Television program on sinusitis with Dr. Roger Boles. He has been featured as an expert on various news segments on CBS, NBC, FOX and NY One, and most recently on the nationally syndicated, Jane Pauley Show. Medical Training and Background

Dr. Josephson received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the State University of New York at Albany with distinction. He attended the State University of New York at Downstate Medical School, completed his internship in general surgery, and then a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Long Island Jewish Hospital. Dr. Josephson completed a fellowship with Dr. David W. Kennedy in Nasal and Endoscopic Sinus Surgery at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, where he was the first fellowship trained endoscopic sinus and nasal surgeon in the United States. He was also an instructor on the faculty at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center.

Dr. Josephson was honored to be a consultant to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) the federal government agency that is responsible for medical research. At the NIH, Dr. Josephson researched new techniques for nasal and facial cosmetic reconstruction for patients with special functional and cosmetic deformities of the nose and face.

Dr. Josephson was an active appointee to the first Rhinology and Paranasal Sinus committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, the committee formed to set the standards for nasal and sinus surgery in the United States .

He is an active committee member appointed to many committees and is a consultant to the Board of Governers for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is active as a teacher and educator to his colleagues and patients internationally.
